Welcome to Dan's Almost Daily! 3 January 2011 Edition

Firstly, I call it the almost daily because I usually publish a couple of times a week, and to publish daily is a bit much at the present time.

Second, let me wish all of you a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year, 2011. May you attract all into your life that you desire and very little if any that you do not desire. I wish only the best for all of my friends and acquaintances and business colleagues in 2011, may it be your best year ever. I am also attracting the same for myself, making a pledge to make 2011 the best year ever!

I spent the New Year's with friends in Pattaya, quiet and relaxing actually, I guess at 50 the wild parties and staying up all night are firmly in my past! Enjoyed a nice dinner and then watched a movie and caught some fireworks in the distance at the appointed hour, then off to bed around 130am! Saturday was fun catching up with a new friend from 2010 and meeting some other people and hanging out a bit at Dongtan Beach in Jomtien.

Sunday was back to Pattaya Expats Club, where my friend Ren Lexander gave a very interesting talk on Evolutionary Psychology, he called it the Ape Within. Quite interesting to understand the way our brains are wired going back over 150,000 years. It sure explains some of the actions that people take, both Males and Females. And most of it is pre-wired into our brains going way way back to when men were hunters. He gave an interesting example of how us men can't find things in the refrigerator, because we are typically looking straight ahead into the distance (the hunter), when the items are likely somewhere in our peripheral vision (the door) which we can't see or are ignoring. He also discussed the Pamela Anderson Syndrome (why she has chosen some pretty grungy looking husbands when she can have anyone) which was driven by the fact that her husbands are famous rock stars, who have women throwing themselves at their feet, so they must be desirable. So that explains why she married who she did! Similarly he explained the Tiger Woods syndrome, he married a gorgeous, blonde, sweet, Nanny, and he being the Alpha Male that he is, as famous as he is with women throwing themselves at him, he did what he was prehistorically programmed to do. For more on Evolutionary Psychology, Ren recommended you read:  The Red Queen by Matt Ridley.

Onward to Monday, today the 3rd of January as I write my blog and finish the planning for 2011. Lot's on the horizon, existing clients with exciting projects, new clients with new projects starting very very soon to make 2011 the year I want, and I hope the year that you want. Till later this week!

Dan
